Mission

Hive Futures Foundation pays school fees in full so that capable students from Kenya's small-scale coffee- and tea-farming communities can finish their education and decide their own futures. As funds allow, we also help equip their schools with the libraries, sports facilities and resources that make that education worth having.

Senior School Promise. Once selected, every Future is fully funded through all three years of Senior School, as long as they remain enrolled.

Post-Secondary Support. Futures who complete Senior School in good standing may continue to receive Hive Futures support into university, college or technical training. Post-secondary awards are reviewed annually and depend on the student's placement, course costs, available public assistance and Hive Futures' available funds.

How it works

1

Schools nominate bright students in Grades 8 and 9.

2

We score every nominee on the same criteria and visit families at home.

3

We pay fees directly to the school, term by term.

What your gift does

$20 / month

With three other monthly donors, carries one student through Senior School.

$140

Pays about one term.

$420

Pays about one year.

$2,400

Carries one student through all three years.

Our promises

We fund before we promise; no student is accepted until three years of Senior School are funded. Fees go only to school bank accounts, never cash. There is no charge to apply. Gifts are pooled; donors do not choose individual children. We report to donors every January and July.

Hive Futures currently operates with no paid staff, keeping administrative costs extremely low while we establish our first scholarship cohort. As the program grows, we will invest appropriately in financial controls, student safeguarding, program administration, and independent oversight.
